Postdoctoral Fellowship in Forensic Psychology
FAST is pleased to announce one full-time, 12-month postdoctoral fellowship training opportunity, starting in September 2027. Although FAST is intentionally decentralized, most of the fellow’s in-person work will take place throughout the stunningly beautiful greater Seattle area.
The postdoctoral fellowship will emphasize a combination of in-person and telehealth criminal psycholegal referrals, with common questions including: adjudicative competence (i.e., competence to proceed), mental state (e.g., not guilty by reason of insanity and diminished capacity), mitigation, and violence risk assessment/protective factors. If interested, the fellow will have secondary training opportunities involving civil and immigration evaluations.
The fellow must obtain licensure as a Psychological Associate through the Washington State Department of Health.
2027-2028 compensation includes a $90.400 stipend, generous benefits and paid leave, and a very flexible schedule. Potential applicants can learn more about training opportunities and application requirements here:

The 2,000-hour fellowship training experience includes:
Conducting forensic psychological evaluations of in-custody and community-based litigants under the supervision of a licensed psychologist (. This will include communication with the retaining party, record review, clinical and collateral interviews, administering (and scoring and interpreting) psychological tests, report writing, and possible deposition and/or trial testimony.
At least 2 hours of individual supervision per week, some of which may be provided during day hikes (if this appeals to the fellow)
At least 2 hours of additional learning experiences per week, including: didactics in ethics, case law, and forensic practice; professional development seminars; supervision by subject matter specialists; guidance on preserving work-life balance; and other topics tailored to the fellow’s interests.
Mid-year and end-of-year formal evaluations of the fellow’s progress in the training program, with the possibility of more frequent evaluations if deemed necessary by the practice directors/training director or at the fellow’s request.
